Location
A thousand years ago Holwell hamlet in West Oxfordshire was known as 'Holewella'. The origin of this name is the Saxon 'Halig', familiar to us as 'Holy'. Evidently Holwell was the site of a holy well, or stream that was thought to bring Good Luck.
An idyllic Cotswold Retreat, Holwell Manor is within a mile of The Cotswold Wildlife Park, 13 miles from Blenheim Palace and Woodstock, only 17 miles from Cheltenham Festivals and Race Meetings and Oxford, and 10 miles from Cirencester and Stow on the Wold.
There is a regular train service from London Paddington to Charlbury and local bus services to and from Burford. Use the Travel Line South East web site for further information.
